Update – Kilkivan Care service ends on 16 October 2025

Kilkivan Care has been a successful three and a half-year collaboration between Trilogy Care, Mable and KDCCA to localise a coordination service of the government’s home care package (HCP) system.

Kilkivan Care coordinators Robyn Haack and Jess Johnston are leaving their positions on 16 October 2025 to pursue new chapters of their lives.

Their departures initiated a review of the Kilkivan Care service structure.

Legal and accounting advice revealed that any coordinator position, filled by self-employed contractors until now, must be replaced with an employee to fulfill the provisions of the Australian Taxation Office.

The association has decided that, because of the upcoming launch of the new Support at Home program, the uncertainty of adequate funding, and the complexities of the HCP waiting lists, the risk and cost of having an employee is too high and therefore the Kilkivan Care service will end on 16 October 2025.

This means that the 40 HCP clients coordinated by Kilkivan Care will be handed back to the Trilogy Care team. All enquiries will now be managed by Natalya who can be reached at (07) 2139 5683 or by email at natalyaa@trilogy.com.au

Trilogy Care has indicated it may consider the appointment of a person to its staff to provide ‘local’ representation of our district.

It is important to understand that nothing will change for existing clients. Trilogy Care has always had complete oversight of the HCPs via its compliance and clinical operations.

The end of Kilkivan Care does not mean that Kilkivan & District Community Care is ending. Kilkivan Care was just one pillar of four that the association manages. The other three pillars are: community transport, the operation of the KilkiVAN; communication and social support, the Senior’s Social Hub gatherings each month; and the continuing advocacy for the Rise & Shine ageing in place project and fundraising to make the Church Street community centre project equipped and accessible.

The KDCCA will continue to provide information to our valued local seniors via this website, Facebook page and face-to-face at Senior Social Hub events.
